MMSC continues to join the rest of the world's Joycean crazies
in the Centennial celebration of Bloomsday,
on June 16th, with a special performance by Amy Vane of the shameless
Molly Bloom's internal monologue that completes Ulysses, the most
celebrated novel of the 20th century.
Molly is glimpsed, gossiped about, considered, calumnized, vilified
and glorified throughout the novel's many pages but it is only in
the final chapter that we come upon her full force, alone, and at
her most unguarded moment - in the wee hours of the morning, in
bed - after a long day of infidelity and other infelicities - trying
desperately to fall asleep while the day, the years, her entire
life to date, and some intriguing possibilities for the future,
pass through her mind - and thanks to Joyce's matchless inner prose
style - directly into ours.
