What is the difference between a preacher and a salesman? Come and find out in this hilarious hit from the 1999 Humana Festival of New American Plays. A pointed, thought-provoking look at organized, merchandised religion; the dangers of pride and ambition; the battles for power between generations; and the redemptive power of faith in the age of mass media. A face-off for control between a high-powered, legendary pastor of the biggest Baptist church in the nation and an ambitious young preacher from the country sets the stage for a clash of wills and wits worthy of the latest Wall Street merger.

"...a wealth of both drama and comedy in the struggle for power..." The Los Angeles Times

“GOD’S MAN IN TEXAS is divine…very funny…universal, powerful, and deeply human…characters as rich and interesting as you’re likely to encounter on stage…you couldn’t possibly come away disappointed.”
St. Petersburg Times

Playing the roles of Dr. Jeremiah Mears, Hugo Taney and Dr. Philip Gottschall will be MMSC favorites Sean Marrinan, Jack Kroll and Don Wildy. Christine Crawfis directs this Biblical struggle among this trinity of men.
